Many people will ask if the PLP is the same as the Foundational Learning Programme (FLP). The answer is ‘yes’. The PLP, is a vocational education preparatory programme that seeks to address deficiencies in general foundational learning and effectively prepares students to access the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges. For this reason it was found, during the curriculum development phase that the name PLP better captures its purpose.
The expectation is for this programme to:
- Help improve the learning outcomes of students
- Help improve the quality of teaching and learning in the TVET
- Help improve the retention, completion and participation rates in the TVET
